The Thornton Heath Festival is a locally run not-for-profit event organised by a committee of charitable minded local business people (originally the Thornton Heath Business Partnership), local representatives and local volunteers:
Tony Rowland MBE – Chairman
Councillor Callton Young OBE – Vice Chairman
Councillor Karen Jewitt – Stall planning & risks
Hon. Alderwoman Pat Clouder – Licensing & Safety including traffic management
Neil Atherton – Funfair planning & risks
Andrea Cornwall – Volunteer oversight
Agnes Forbes – Stage Assistant
Renford Carr – SIA Security
The committee works closely with the local council, emergency services and other agencies to ensure that every Festival runs smoothly and without incident – and they all have.
The aim of the Festival is to bring Thornton Heath’s diverse communities together for a fun-filled day by providing something for people of all groups, ages and backgrounds.
2023 is the Festival’s seventeenth year. It draws a crowd of about 6,000 over the course of the day.
